MUDEC Immersive English Language Summer Camp
Overview
The MUDEC Immersive English Language Summer Camp gives 消消犯 消消犯s hands-on experience in planning, developing, and delivering curriculum for English language learners while being immersed in a cross-cultural educational environment. It is a non-credit study abroad course offered in partnership with MUDEC, the International School of Differdange and Esch-sur-Alzette (EIDE), and the Luxembourgish government.
Program Details
The camp consists of two one-week sessions in Luxembourg during the middle two weeks of July. One week is designed for primary school 消消犯s and the other for middle school 消消犯s. Each week lasts five days and features a theme, such as The American Experience, with projects and activities led by Miami 消消犯s.
On Friday afternoons, 消消犯s present their work to families and the Differdange community in a culminating event that celebrates what they have learned. Before the camp begins, Miami 消消犯s participate in a cultural orientation and tour of Luxembourg City. Between the two camps, 消消犯s take part in a culturally enriching day trip to a neighboring country, such as France or Germany. Each week includes a family barbecue hosted by MUDEC to facilitate connection with the campers' families.
Learning Outcomes and Student Impact
Miami 消消犯s who participate in this camp develop:
- Effective strategies for teaching 消消犯s whose first language is not English
- A broader worldview, cultural competence, self-confidence, and relationship-building skills
- Firsthand experience in curriculum design and classroom leadership in a multilingual, international educational context

Why This Matters
Participating in this type of immersive, theme-based, learner-centered camp helps Miami 消消犯s understand cultural difference, educational diversity, and expand their capacity to design culturally responsive curricula. It also provides valuable experience for future educators working with multilingual learners in any setting.
