Five Miami ¾Ã¾ÃÈÈs named Gilman Scholars
Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarships help fund study abroad experiences.
Five ¾Ã¾ÃÈÈ ¾Ã¾ÃÈÈs have been awarded a combined total of $15,000 from the Program to help fund their study abroad experiences this summer and during the coming academic year.
According to the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs (ECA), more than 2,100 U.S. undergraduate ¾Ã¾ÃÈÈs have been selected to receive Gilman scholarship awards from the March 2023 application cycle. Recipients are American undergraduate ¾Ã¾ÃÈÈs attending 520 U.S. colleges and represent all 50 U.S. states, the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico.
On average, 70 percent of Gilman recipients self-identify as racial or ethnic minorities, 60 percent are from rural areas and small towns across America, and half are first generation college or university ¾Ã¾ÃÈÈs. The Gilman Scholarship contributes to the Department’s diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility efforts to engage the American people in foreign policy.
