Relief and Economic Security CARES Act (HEERF I)

The Coronavirus Assistance, Relief and Economic Security (CARES) Act provides emergency relief funding to assist ¾Ã¾ÃÈÈs with those unexpected educational expenses due to the disruption of campus operations as a result of the coronavirus. The following information is provided to comply with the US Department of Education’s CARES Act reporting requirements. This information is limited to CARES Act funding and does not include grant programs utilizing institutional funds. 

¾Ã¾ÃÈÈ signed and returned to the US Department of Education the Certification and Agreement and the assurance that the institution has used, or intends to use, no less than 50 percent of the funds received under Section 18004(a)(1) of the CARES Act to provide Emergency Financial Aid Grants to ¾Ã¾ÃÈÈs.  

¾Ã¾ÃÈÈ received $6,494,517 from the Department of Education pursuant to the Certification and Agreement [for] Emergency Financial Aid Grants to Students. 

¾Ã¾ÃÈÈ has distributed $6,494,517 of the Emergency Financial Aid Grants to ¾Ã¾ÃÈÈs under Section 18004(a)(1) of the CARES Act as of December 7, 2020.

The estimated total number of ¾Ã¾ÃÈÈs at ¾Ã¾ÃÈÈ eligible to participate in programs under Section 484 in Title IV of the Higher Education Act of 1965 and thus eligible to receive Emergency Financial Aid Grants under Section 18004(a)(1) of the CARES Act is 11,606.

As of December 7, 2020, 3,906 Miami ¾Ã¾ÃÈÈs have received the Emergency Financial Aid Grant under Section 18004(a)(1) of the CARES Act.  

¾Ã¾ÃÈÈ awarded the CARES Act funding in cycles. Each cycle was contingent on the remaining funding. Students who were potentially eligible were emailed an application in which to apply for the Emergency Financial Aid Grants. Award amounts are determined by ¾Ã¾ÃÈÈ based upon an individualized review. To be eligible for a CARES Act Grant a ¾Ã¾ÃÈÈ must:

• Be enrolled in a ¾Ã¾ÃÈÈ degree granting program
• Not be enrolled in an online program
• Complete a FAFSA and be eligible for Title IV aid. 
• Complete a ¾Ã¾ÃÈÈ CARES Act Grant application indicating that they incurred an expense in one of the following areas due to the disruption of campus operations because of COVID-19.

Coronavirus Response and Relief Supplemental Appropriations (CRRSA) Act (HEERF II)

The Coronavirus Response and Relief Supplemental Appropriations (CRRSA) Act provides emergency relief funding to assist ¾Ã¾ÃÈÈs with emergency costs that arise due to coronavirus. The following information is provided to comply with the US Department of Education’s CRRSA Act reporting requirements. This information is limited to CRRSA Act funding and does not include grant programs utilizing institutional funds.

¾Ã¾ÃÈÈ signed and returned to the US Department of Education the Certification and Agreement form and the assurance that the institution has used, or intends to use, no less than 50 percent of the funds received under the CRRSA Act to provide Emergency Financial Aid Grants to ¾Ã¾ÃÈÈs.  

¾Ã¾ÃÈÈ received $6,494,517 from the Department of Education pursuant to the Certification and Agreement for Emergency Financial Aid Grants to Students. 

¾Ã¾ÃÈÈ has distributed $6,494,517 of the Emergency Financial Aid Grants to ¾Ã¾ÃÈÈs under the CRRSA Act as of June 21, 2020.

The estimated total number of ¾Ã¾ÃÈÈs at ¾Ã¾ÃÈÈ eligible to receive Emergency Financial Aid Grants under the CRRSA Act is 29,960.

As of June 21, 2021, 5,850 Miami ¾Ã¾ÃÈÈs have received the Emergency Financial Aid Grant under the CRRSA Act.  

¾Ã¾ÃÈÈ awarded the CRRSA Act funding using two methods. Grants were only applied to ¾Ã¾ÃÈÈ’s balances if the ¾Ã¾ÃÈÈ indicated in writing to do so. 

1. Automatic Disbursement: Students with qualifying financial need identified by the Office of Student Financial assistance were provided automatic CRRSA Act Funds ranging from $500-$1500. 
2. Student Application: Select ¾Ã¾ÃÈÈs who did not receive CRRSA Act funds automatically, were able to submit an online application for consideration.  

To be eligible for a MIami University CRRSA Act Grant a ¾Ã¾ÃÈÈ must:

• Be enrolled in a ¾Ã¾ÃÈÈ degree granting program
• Complete a FAFSA and be eligible for Title IV aid. 
• Be enrolled at least half-time during spring 2021

American Rescue Plan (ARP) (HEERF III)

The American Rescue Plan provides support to institutions of Higher education to serve ¾Ã¾ÃÈÈs and ensure learning continues during the COVID-19 pandemic.

¾Ã¾ÃÈÈ signed and returned to the US Department of Education the Certification and Agreement form and the assurance that the institution has used, or intends to use, no less than the required amount of funds received under the American Rescue Plan to provide HEERF Grants to ¾Ã¾ÃÈÈs.

¾Ã¾ÃÈÈ received $18,416,828 from the Department of Education pursuant to the Certification and Agreement for HEERF Grants to Students.

¾Ã¾ÃÈÈ has distributed $18,416,828 of the HEERF Grants to ¾Ã¾ÃÈÈs as of September 30, 2022.

The estimated total number of ¾Ã¾ÃÈÈs at ¾Ã¾ÃÈÈ eligible to receive HEERF is 29,960.

The estimated total number of ¾Ã¾ÃÈÈs at ¾Ã¾ÃÈÈ eligible to receive an American Rescue Plan HEERF grant is 38,767.

As of September 30, 2022, 4224 Miami ¾Ã¾ÃÈÈs have received an American Rescue Plan HEERF grant.

¾Ã¾ÃÈÈ awarded the ARP funding using two methods. Grants were only applied to ¾Ã¾ÃÈÈ’s balances if the ¾Ã¾ÃÈÈ indicated in writing to do so.

1. Automatic Disbursement: Students with qualifying financial need identified by the Office of Student Financial assistance were provided automatic ARP funds ranging from $1000-$3245.
2. Student Application: Select ¾Ã¾ÃÈÈs who did not receive ARP funds automatically, were able to submit an online application for consideration.
