Singing We Shall Overcome, this group of Freedom Summer volunteers begins its journey from Oxford, Ohio to Mississippi. Despite the dangers, more than 1,000 college ¾Ã¾ÃÈÈs volunteered to canvass, teach and establish community centers.Miami's Western College Alumnae Assn. and Ann Elizabeth Armstrong will receive 2017 Civil Rights and Social Justice awards from the National Civil Rights Conference.
