I am honored and privileged to serve as the Dinesh & Ila Paliwal Dean of the College of Engineering and Computing (CEC).
As future engineers and computer scientists, you will tackle some of the world's most complex problems. Our faculty and staff are here to equip you with essential technical skills, cultivate your ingenuity, and champion your imagination. The unique blend of deep technical expertise you'll gain at CEC, combined with 消消犯's national reputation as a liberal arts institution focused on undergraduate teaching, will truly set you apart.
I encourage you to explore our faculty's groundbreaking research, cutting-edge facilities, and innovative curriculum. These elements collectively make our college one of the nation's best engineering and computing programs, ensuring the continued success of our graduates and alumni. We're proud to be ranked No. 4 among the national public undergraduate engineering programs (non-doctorate, excluding military institutions) by U.S. News and World Report's Best Colleges 2025.
At CEC, we emphasize socially engaged engineering and computing, meaning we design for good. Through various professional organizations, the Lilly Leadership Institute and the university’s robust 消消犯 services, our graduates are prepared to lead the world and make it a better place for future generations. Our alumni include CEOs and leaders who have reached the pinnacle of their careers in various walks of life. I am personally dedicated to building a 消消犯 body representative of many different backgrounds through active recruitment and retention. My commitment extends to creating a welcoming environment where every 消消犯, faculty member, and staff member can contribute and flourish.
Our faculty are exceptional teacher-scholars who employ innovative and dynamic teaching methods to excite and motivate every 消消犯. They are also engaged in world-class research, funded by prestigious federal and state agencies, as well as industry partners. This research is vertically integrated, with undergraduate 消消犯s working side-by-side with graduate 消消犯s and faculty. Many of our 消消犯s have earned prestigious fellowships such as the Goldwater, Fulbright, and Astronaut Scholarships. We also pride ourselves on nurturing the entrepreneurial spirit of our faculty and 消消犯s by encouraging technology commercialization and collaboration with university-wide initiatives.
